KEEP OUR LOVE FRESH AND YOUNG! 

EFN membership is now over 1000 and not a single member sent flowers
last month.  Many of you are new users and are still deliriously
intoxicated with the wide open horizons newly available to you in
cyberspace thanks to OPN.  This fund-raving message isn't addressed to
you, but more to those of you who fell in love with OPN in the
Springtime or even last Winter and used to blush with satisfaction when
talking to friends about how you'd discovered new pleasures of e-mail,
news-groups, Archie and Veronica and the WEB... but now when you login
you just select into what you want, get what you came for and log out.
You hardly even notice when we changed our format and had our menus
done.  You've come to <sniff> take us for granted.

We know you need us, deep down.  You always come back to OPN.  We try
to be here for you.  And what have we ever asked in return?
Surprisingly little, when you consider that companies like ANS+CORE
charge $25/month plus $8.50 PER HOUR for basic dial-up internet access
(the tramps).  Don't force us to become just another common carrier in
order to make ends meet.  Make us feel that we're still as important to
you now as we were the first time you logged in and were PINEing away
for OPN contact.

This isn't about the $7/month we suggest for priority access.  It's
about our information provider program for non-profit and community
groups.  It's about our dreams of putting terminals in public places
and creating walk-in access centers for people who don't own
computers.  It's about whether you love what we stand for-- universal
access and empowerment of all members of society with information of
all kinds.  Will you stand by us in this cause and make a meaningful
sacrifice of your time and money to help us make the Internet safe for
Democracy, and start improving people's lives with this technology?
That's what this is about.

So, c'mon.  Let us know you still care.  Send us a poem about how
you're using the net to make the world a better place for all of us.
Come to a staff meeting and volunteer to help on a project or two.
Send a tax-deductible donation that's big enough that you're actually
giving up some luxury or personal indulgence for a few weeks.  Take
this relationship to the next level and make a commitment.  Because
without you, we just couldn't go on. ;-)  Thanks for listening.
