We interrupt our regular programming to bring you this message from OPN:

               AIR CONDITIONER SERIOUSLY NEEDED !!

Gosh, what a beautiful day it was today.  This warm, sunny, breezy
weather certainly lifted my spirits.  It also raised the temperature
down on the engineering deck, where Clif and the non-virtual EFN system
live.  We are more concerned about the thermometer in "the cave" than
we are with the funding thermometer at the moment.  Let me back up.
"The Cave" is where Clif keeps most of the EFN equipment under a stair
case in a closet with a large fan sucking air up from the crawl space
of his home.  The system consumes a couple Kilowatts of power
continuously and this means a lot of heat.

To tide us over until we can get a real computer room, we need a
window-style air conditioner.  Maybe two.  If you happen to have one
you don't use anymore, why not donate it for a tax deduction or sell it
to us cheap?  Send e-mail to pledge@efn.org if you can help us beat the
heat.


                      FUNDRAISING STATUS

We raised a little over $1500 in April and we are spending $3000 to
buy a new terminal server that will allow us to add ten more phone
lines.  It will also be more reliable, so the problem of "stuck ports"
(which take one phone line out of service at a time until Clif reboots
the system) should go away.  We are growing fast, but not quite fast 
enough to keep up with your demand.  Donations are needed now more than
ever, so please send us what you can.
